The Gentlemen * * * * ½

Come now Gentlemen. Let us discuss this calmly.
This is Guy Ritchie at his best, doing that which he is best at - English lowlife, scoundrels, gangsters and likely lads, with funny names, and even funnier dialogue. Crazy plots with twists where everything goes wrong for some and unexpectedly right for others. The stakes are high and the consequence are dire.  You cross Micky and you pay, at best with an awful thumping, at worse, a pound of flesh - literally!
The Gentlemen continues his excellent legacy of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and Rock'n'Rolla.
It's the best thing he has done for years and will go a long way in redeeming him from the disastrous King Arthur.
It's a wonderful roll call: too many great actor to list, including Charlie Hunnan and Colin Farrell.  Mathew McConaughey is an ex-pat American who has worked his way up from dealer in the universities to a multi millionaire marijuana king but is considering retirement.  The heat is on to get his business.
Hugh Grant does a wonderful turn as an opportunistic private detective who also narrates the story to us.
It's fast funny and exciting.  Well done Guy Ritchie and welcome back!
