Knives Out * * * *
It's no wonder Daniel Craig grabbed this role with both hands: "I'm a paunch, middle aged, fairly sexless private detective from the Southern States .... so don't call me James Bond!"
I won't Daniel, I won't. You've done a good job and I commend you on exploiting this liberating role as Inspector Benoit Blanc.
Also good is - well pretty well the whole cast actually, and there is a lot of star power on board here, including Christopher Plummer, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Colette, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, all proving, along with Daniel Craig that good actors can just get better with age.
It's an Agatha Christie style whodunit set in a fine mansion in North Eastern United States. The old man (Plummer) is a successful whodunit writer who ironically dies; is it suicide or foul play?
The dastardly family seem to be more lustfully concerned with their slice of the inheritance than anything else, whilst the old mans young nurse becomes their scapegoat. Then the twist and revelations begin - along with many funny scenes and wise cracks.
I'ts a lot of fun and well worth seeing.
