Brittany Runs A Marathon * * *
This is another true story. (Doesn't anybody make stuff up anymore? )
I don't know. It's kind of okay, but it's also kind of like an extra long episode of Biggest Loser.
A slightly overweight woman who leads a pretty unhealthy lifestyle decided she is going to do something about it.
She gets to know her neighbor who is a keen runner and then a nice gay man. The three of them work on aspiring to do the NY Marathon. The film presents the NY Marathon as though it's the Olympics, despite the fact that millions do "The Marathon" in cities all over the world every year.
That's not to say it's not an achievement, but come on! Hardly something we can get excited about. It's primarily for the participants
Anyway, fortunately for us Brittany has got a few other adventures and challenges, not least being her negative attitude and unique ability to be unkind, even though she hates herself for doing it afterward. Watching her get over that was more rewarding than watching her puff her way through the marathon.
It's small budget, got some pretty funny scenes, especially at the beginning before it tries to pump us up over the marathon, but I wouldn't run to see it (sorry about that).
