Heroic Losers * * *

This Argentinian film is a bit of crowd pleaser.

It's a fairly common setup.  Bunch of good folk who have been exploited one too many times, decide to pull a heist.   Except this time the money is being held by a private individual, who in turn took it from the bank with the banks cooperation.

The money originally belonged to them and was in US Dollars, held in a bank vault rather than an account.

"Don't cry for me...."

Twenty years ago Argentina was going through an economic crisis that made their own currency near worthless, hence the value of the US Dollars they have saved.

We get to know the backgrounds of  each of the group, who are either are amusing, funny or touching.  A little romance is thrown in for good measure.

It bobs along nicely as they plan and re-plan and finally hit upon a scheme that might just work.  The only trouble is it takes a fair bit of experimentation and preparation which we have to sit through.  By the time it got to the great day I was thinking, "Okay, we know their challenges, can we just get on with it!?"

It's a fun film, but I don't think I'll be remembering  it for ever.
