Cousins * * *

I found this New Zealand film rather confusing at times as it shuttled back and forth through time, but it was just being creative I suppose.

Once we were cousins
It's been adapted from a novel of the same name.  It's about three Maori girls who were cousins and their paths separate as they become older.

Cultural demands from their own people and and from white society are imposed upon them.  From the beginning we can see their destiny (like I said, it time shuffles).  We see how they got there and the recreation of certain periods is excellently done.

There is a whole lot of stuff about indigenous culture and land rights tossed in too, which is pretty  interesting and informative.

It's okay, well worth a viewing, but I don't understand the worship its been receiving.
