Goldstone * * *
"I don't think Flip likes us". "Farken shoot him!" |
Goldstone could be a lot better if it could make up it’s mind what the story is about and stick to it. It’s like a truncated soap with issue after issue being raised to keep the momentum going. It looks good, though the impressive aerial shots struck me as rather unnecessary - just like a lot of scenes. I don’t know, it’s a bit like the director is over excited by the possibilities in film making and wants to give a few “ideas” and influences a bit of an airing. Simpler would have been better - as would a few unnecessary scenes and characters.
Basically an outback cop finds another cop working on his turf. This second cop neither looks or acts like any cop I have ever seen but he is from “missing persons”. If he was working undercover for the drug squad I’d understand his appearance - but for missing persons??? And then to send him so far out to look for one person.
The remote area is dominated by a mining company The way they behave you’d think this was the wild west. It’s just so unreal it’s ridiculous.
Anyway, it looks slick. The acting is mostly pretty good and the conclusion is told to us in dialogue as the two cops chat it all out. A few bullets go off but the only real victim is the film itself as it shoots itself in the foot. Bit of a shame really.
