Captain America: Civil War * *

Whaddya mean....comic book character! |
I don’t know what a Marvel comic is , I don’t know what an X-Men is and I don’t know why I spent nearly two and half hours watching something called Captain America Civil War.
I hardly ever watch these x men marvel comic book films. They’re mostly dead boring and this is no exception. I guess I went because Deadpool impressed me so much I was hoping for more of the same with this. No such luck.
Where Deadpool won was that it featured one self mocking character.
This has got hundreds of ‘em and they all do stupid things with stupid reasons. And they take what they’re doing seriously. I mean they have serious dialogue about moronic situations and you’re just sit there thinking but you’re comic book characters!
There is hardly any story, but I get the general impression they try to do good but they keep breaking things and hurting people and so some big global council decide they don't want help from them anymore (can’t say I blame them).
Oh, and some of them had their Moms or Dads killed through the incompetence of another one and they’re really, really mad with one another about that.
It’s just explosion after explosion fight after fight. It must have been terrible for the actors spending hundreds of hours in front of green screens so the CGI team can fill it in afterwards. It must have been ever worse to try and take these stupid characters seriously.
For me this isn’t cinema. It uses the medium of cinema to it’s own end which is okay I suppose. I’m no purist. I’m not even a snob (well not much of one). I know there are plenty of smart people who can get into this. I guess I’m just the wrong person for appraising this. Lesson learnt. I’ll just keep away from this comic book stuff in future.
I’d treat this film the same as the comic that inspired it. Straight in the bin!
