Speak No Evil * * *

Yes, I know it's been made before, but if I could just squeeze in here.....

It's a bit cheeky,  this film - and rather pointless The original Danish film was fine, only two years old and in no way in need of a remake.   But there you go.

I should mention that I did not see the first one when it came out as I wasn't aware of it. I don't think it was released in Australia.  You can easily stream it now if you wish to.  But you can go see this too. It's pretty much the same story with a more upbeat ending.

It's a good horror/pscho drama.  A couple holidaying in Italy meet another couple.  They each have a child who is about ten years old.  There is something a bit edgy about one couple.  A bit pushy. Bordering on occasional rudeness but always with the "Just kidding" follow up.  It's well acted I have to say.  Quite drawers you in. James Mcavoy is good in the lead role as the man you wouldn't really want to get to know.

After the holiday the weird couple invite the other couple to their remote house.  "Come enjoy a weekend in the country".  So they do.  Then the weirdness is really cranked up.  Then the young girl learns a few truths from the young boy about what is really going on in the house.  But somehow it's not so easy to get away.  "Everything is just a misunderstanding" it's explained to the logical couple. That is until the last twenty minutes where there is no denying what is going on and the only thing to do is try to escape.

It's tense, well acted. But it will certainly leave you with a few questions about how they handle the situation and why don't they do this, and why don't they do that?

Otherwise, it's a good solid drama if you want to go see it.  Or you can just stream the original.
