Paw Patrol: * * * *
The Mighty Movie

Paw Patrol to the rescue!

I didn't know anything about these little Paw characters but apparently they are quite famous, especially amongst people who are under six years old.  They have a very successful TV franchise and this is their second feature film.

There were three generations in the cinema watching this today: myself, my son and my grandson. Actually, we were the only people in the cinema, though I don't think that in any way reflects on the popularity of the film.  Apparently it was a blockbuster during the school holidays, but today was just a regular midday Tuesday session.

It is good that we had the cinema to ourselves because I learned that my two year old Grandson likes to talk through the movie.  He also likes to get out of his seat and walk around. I enjoyed doing that too.  We went all the way up the back stalls and  then all the way to the front and stood in front of the screen.

A lot of our activity tended to mimic the activity on the screen. When the Paw team invaded a tall building on a cliff face, we were right at the back - in the Gods as they say.  When they were underwater, we were right at the front, beyond the front row seats and standing in front of the screen.  It was a fun, interactive way to watch a film. We had some apples with us and we ate those too.

The plot wasn't very hard to follow: There are six puppies who have a boy owner. He's a very clever and well resourced boy as he has taught the puppies to talk, and he has also provided each of them with their own means of transport from fast cars and motorbikes to a fire engine, and a mobile crane.  The little one even has her own aeroplane.  Somehow or another when things go wrong in the world, a message is conveyed to Ryder (the boy) and he sends the puppies out to make things right.  They're quite a team!

In this particular film the team are supercharged by crystals that have come from a comet. (Hence the title).  The comet itself was sucked down to earth by a crazy scientist lady, though she keeps insisting she is not mad. She is soon to team up with the troublesome mayor.  They think they can get away with their world-domination plans, but they soon learn you don't want to mess with the Paw Patrol!

I wouldn't necessarily recommend this film for adults, but if you've got a little one in the family, go see it together. You'll have a fun time, especially if the cinema is empty.   I asked my Grandson at the end how many stars should we give it, counting up from one, he stopped me at four.  So there you go!
