Snatched * * *
As I understand it this has received a bit of a hammering, but personally I liked it. It has got a few rubbish scenes but for the most part it delivers the LOL’s as they say. It’s not a long film and the first 30 minutes are very funny as Emily (Amy Schumer) is dismissed from her job and dropped by her boyfriend and we are introduced to her Mum (Goldie Hawn) and her many cats, along with her useless, forty year old, live-at-home brother.

Just don't mention Trainwreck |
Emily has pre-booked a non-refundable holiday in Ecuador but as her ex-boyfriend won’t be coming now she persuades her Mother to come with her.
After a funny flirtation and date preparation scene at the resort, things start to go off the rails a bit - for them and us - as they get kidnapped, along with the level of humour we started with.
There are a few irksome self-realisation scenes - a lifetime of selfishness is compensated for by helping the village ladies carry water for an afternoon.

It finds its mojo again from time to time as they are on the run from their kidnappers and get helped by a self-deluded Indiana Jones character, a pair of lesbian whack jobs, and a pair of young doctors in the jungle.
Meanwhile we cut back to America and her brothers phone calls to a disinterested Government Department as he tries to get them out.
I can’t give it great praise, but I had more than a few a laughs and in the end I had no regrets about going to see it.
