Sanctuary * *

Last year I reviewed a very good film (Leo Grande): a two hander, set in a hotel room featuring a client and a sex-worker.

This film is a similar scenario, but unlike Leo Grande it is totally unbelievable.

He's a very rich young man.  In fact he not only owns the hotel room, he owns the entire hotel and many others. But he's a bit of a dipstick.  His wealth and ownership didn't come from hard-work and enterprise so much as dumb luck, or inheritance to be exact.

Hurts?
Yeah but not as much as the audience
.
She's the sex-worker but she specialises in dominating apparently.  At the same time she is obliged to stick to the script.  Prior to their meeting he sends her a script he has written.  It's pretty dumb and says a lot about his insecurity.

Today they go off the script by a long, long way as blackmail and other threats come into the scenario.  The hotel room gets trashed and she uses every nasty trick of manipulation she can on him.

I thought it was more ugly than exciting.

Finally she demonstrates a corporate and business knowledge and skills that take him by surprise... and us!.. I mean, I thought she was supposed to be a twenty four year old hooker.

They perform well for two actors struggling with a ridiculous scenario, but this well acted film left me pretty empty.  I forgot most of it on the drive home so excuse this short review.
