The Velvet Queen * * * *

This beautiful documentary is well worth seeing - and I mean seeing!   There is not much dialogue in this film but you don't need it.  Like the two protagonists you will probably appreciate the silence.

Set in the Tibetan mountains, two men search for the elusive snow leopard.  Although their warm and respectful relationship makes them a pleasure to be with, the real star of this film is the landscape.  It's beauty being so extraordinary the viewer almost becomes indifferent as to whether they capture their quarry.  I should mention that "capturing" and "shooting" in this film refers to photography.

Rarely have I experienced  such a sense of isolation and wonderment.  It was almost like footage from another planet - one that is utterly unspoiled by humans.  Go see this beautiful film before it's too late - and I'm not just talking about its time in the cinema.
