Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn * * * *
Today was my last chance to see this film in a cinema so I grabbed it - though you'll probably be able to download it now, or find it streaming. If you do, make sure the whole family is gathered round to witness the first ten minutes.
Joking! Quite the opposite.
Make sure you are alone, or at least with someone who won't be shocked. It's literally explicit hardcore porn, just like you'd see on some internet site - or so I have heard: personally I wouldn't know too much about those sorts of things. What? What are you looking at me like that for?

Emi shows intellect hotter than her porn |
So in Part One we see Emi walking the streets of Bucharest, distracted, worried, anxious. It seems like the whole city is angry and impatient. Hostile drivers, creepy people, impatient people, angry people. Sometimes this is what Emi witnesses, sometimes it is what we witness after she has walked on and the camera lingers. At times I honestly didn't know if they were setups or if the director simply filmed what was happening as strangers speak rudely to each other. At other times when Emi walks on, the camera pans to trashed and vacant buildings which are both ugly and beautiful.
In Part Two, the dilemma of Emi is left alone for a while and we are given something else to think about. Made up of still shots, each one having a meaningful title such as "politics", "family" with a voice-over reading something quite profound on each one subject. I wondered if it was to prepare us for the next part as it challenges any pre-conceived notions or presumptions we might have on different subjects. It is actually quite riveting and inspiring, even though some of the comments and statistics can be distressing.
In Part Three, Emi has to face the School. This could almost be live theatre. It is not averse to commentary on the Covid 19 epidemic either. Set in the garden of the school, faces masked and admonishment delivered to the unmasked and those who have not sanitised,. The scene shows us the most judgmental, self righteous elements of people. Emi's arguments are brilliant as she exposes the small mindedness of school council and speaks of the real purpose of education.
Is she fired? We are given three endings - pick the one you want. Personally I liked the last one.
