Marry Me * * *

If the premise of Marry Me was to make a "feel good" movie, it hits the spot.

This predictable, corny little film is really quite pleasant. "The Princess and The Pauper" scenario has been around for ever and this is pretty much another twist on the same story.

Kat Valdez is one of those big time singers that millions of people seem to worship.  She is played by Jennifer Lopez who apparently is one of those big time singers that millions of people seem to worship. You know, the type that sing those awful wailing songs that are often played at weddings etc.

Just promise me you won't sing at home.
In this movie her fame is exaggerated to the ridiculous, so that when she gets married the city is festooned with posters and banners that would make the Olympic Games look like a minor event.  Come the day, she learns the groom is a bit of a cad, so she randomly picks some guy from the crowd and proposes to him. Said guy is Charlie, a quiet single dad and math's teacher, played by the ever charming Owen Wilson

Like a rabbit in the headlights, Charlie is dragged on stage and goes through with the silly publicity stunt but guess what....? They really do fall in love! I guess no one saw that coming.

She is soon to learn how the other half lives, but she is a good sport and enjoys mucking in. As for him, none of her trappings, serving staff, limousines etc. impress him. Which makes her love him more as it is obvious he likes her for who she is.

The whole thing could turn sickening in a second but it pushes the situation just far enough to let you enjoy it without feeling like an idiot or a sook.
