A Guide to Second Date Sex * * * ½
Most of this is claustrophobically shot in a London Terrace house, which is appropriate as it is actually adapted from a stage play.
A young woman and man, both in their twenties are on their second date. Their first meeting in a noisy bar went well, but they were drunk and relaxed. We see this in flashback.
This second date seems more contrived.
"Come to my place" he has told her. There seems to be no plan beyond that, so sex becomes the rather humorous elephant in the room, as they clumsily try to watch a CD, drink appalling port, discuss their disastrous past relationships and each worry about their appearance. Meanwhile one of the lads who shares the house wanders around aimlessly. Then an unexpected guest arrives.
It's quite risque and very funny.
It's directed by the author Rachel Hirons and she's done well.
