Crawl * * * 1/2

Hey swim lady, your Gatorade has arrived. |
The main characters are a teenage girl (looks well into her twenties) and her Dad. A storm has hit and she goes to see if Dad is okay. He's not - not by a long stretch. And pretty soon she finds herself in a similar predicament. Locked in a flooding house which the alligators can get into and they can't get out of.
There is a back story of her being a champion swimmer and he being a demanding coach and some healing to be done. But it's nothing compared to the healing that needs to be done after the alligators have had a little munch of them. Which is a bit of a problem really. One minute we are grimacing at the savagery of the alligators and a minute later she or he is using that damaged arm as though it had never been in an alligators mouth.
Anyway, it's a lot of fun. A good roller coaster ride as their situation becomes more desperate, with the waters rising level by level and the alligators taking over the house. Oh, and of course, aside from the two main characters there is a little dog for us to fret about.
That which it wants to do, it does well.
In the concluding scenes there was a shot which just made me think - Wow! what a beautiful shot! The director must have thought that too because that's exactly where it ended. But I think we could fairly assume a positive outcome, albeit minus a limb or two.
