Churchill * * *

I don’t know if this is politically correct or not - and I’m not talking about disrespect to women or the LGBIT community, or people from other countries.  I mean, I don’t know if they got the politics correct.
Two? Nah, I'll give ya three Winnie
The suggestion is, that Winston Churchill was strongly opposed to Operation Overlord, the huge allied push into France in June 1944.  The film is set over four days before the event.  An operation that actually expedited the end of the war.
It’s an interesting portrait of a man who is usually portrayed as unshakable.  This rather stagey production shows Churchill as tired, confused, angry and out of touch with modern warfare.  He constantly refers to his World War One experiences.
As I say, whether it is correct or not I don’t know. I’ll leave that to the historians, but it makes for a pretty good drama with Brian Cox as a convincing looking Churchill.
After all his “I know best” bombastic speeches, his ultimate deferral to his Wife, The King, the army generals and even his young secretary,  are actually quite moving, which is often the effect when a great man stumbles. (Whoops did I just make a mistake?)
