Bad Neighbours 2: Sorority Rising * * 1/2

Flesh. The perfect antidote for a bad script. |
This one has been out for a while so most of you have probably already seen it by now.
After all, it's been two years since Bad Neighbours 1, and when you’ve been hanging in suspense for that long, my guess is you’d be busting to learn what happened to Mac and Kelly and the crew from next door.
No? Had other things on your mind?
Ah well, for those of you who are remotely interested, Bad Neighbours 2 fulfils the first half of its title. In fact, if they dropped the word “Neighbours” it would be an accurate summation of itself “Bad too”.
Oh, I’m probably being too harsh. This is switch your brains off, have a good laugh cinema, and on that score it does okay. As a sequel it’s about as necessary as watching someone vomit - which you do see incidentally - right into someone's face - in close up.
But hey, it is what it is.
In the first Bad Neighbours film a young couple have a bunch of party-minded college boys move in next door to them and give them hell. As conflict develops we get to know the couple and the college boys. In Neighbours 2 a bunch of party minded college girls move in next door to the couple and give them hell. As conflict develops We get to to know the couple and the college girls.
Spot the difference?
Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne play the married couple (now with cute toddler) in good spirit.. Chloe Grace Moretz is recruited as the head of the girls in the house next door. Like the first Bad Neighbours the conflict turns to collaboration and unity toward the end. (Who’d have seen that coming?)
This whole degenerate “Frat” party “Sorority” party genre has been around for years and years now. They’re made up of a simple plot, hot girls in bikinis, crude jokes, pranks, slapstick and, well that’s about it really.
But they’re sellers and they’re harmless enough if you’re up for it: so I guess they’ll just keep turning them out and releasing them round about the American “Spring Break” time.
Anyone want to bet they've got plans for Bad Neighbours 3?
