Run All Night * * 1/2

Aside from the Taken series which should have stopped at Taken One he also killed a fair few folks in A Walk Amongst The Tombstones, which actually was quite a good film. And Run All Night isn’t bad either to be honest. Liam plays a burnt out hit man: estranged from his family he hangs out around the same old bar where he is regarded as a bit of a joke; a harmless old drunken has-been who can’t even pay his own power bill. But the son who hates him gets himself in a bit of a bother and the old man is the one with the skills and the crazy moves to get him out of it. Paced over 24 hours we see Jimmy turn from a wastrel to a killing machine. For such a burnt out slob he pulls some mean moves. But it’s a fun ride if you don't allow yourself to be too dismissive of the impossibility of it all. Most impressive is the photography. Establishing shots of building exteriors commence from miles away and we zoom in. Cars chases are shot so the scrape of the metal and the locked wheels and burning rubber tell the story, much like they would in the static pictures of a comic book. And the guns are loud.
