Foxcatcher * * * 1/2
There is a lot of talk about Steve Carroll's brilliant performance in this film and rightly so. His transformation goes further than a prosthetic nose. It’s a true story about a member of the ridiculously rich Du Pont family who wanted his own wrestling team (that’s real wrestling, as in Olympics) - and in keeping with wealth and power the rich boy he gets what he wants. Chaning Tatum and the always excellent Mark Rufallo play brothers who were conscripted into his scheme. The trouble was Du Pont was crazy, disturbed and psychopathic. He didn’t really want a wrestling team at all. He wanted friends and he wanted his Mummy to like him. He got neither. It’s a brilliant telling of a true story.
